All Ready Ordinances

Many times when I have been consulting with a patron at the FamilySearch Center, they ask if they can complete all the ordinances available for an individual when using the “Ordinances Ready” feature on Family Tree. From that page, it is only possible to reserve the requested ordinance, for instance; Baptism and Confirmation, Initiatories, Endowments or Sealings. I have discovered a way that you can reserve all the ordinances available for an individual.

Begin with looking for Baptisms and Confirmations. Once the list is generated, leave that window open and open a second window of FamilySearch Family Tree. One will be your place holder for the original ordinance list, the second one will be a working window. Copy and paste the individual’s Family Tree ID number from the ordinance list and paste it into the working window “Find by ID” menu and tap “search.” The individual will appear on a list and next you will tap on their name and then tap on “person.”

Once on the person’s page, see if you can standardize dates and places or add any of the vital information such as birth, christening, death or burial. Add family members from possible “research help” available on their page. Check for any duplicates. View relationship with that individual.

From here, you can go to the person’s ordinances and reserve not only the original baptism and confirmation first requested, but any additional ordinances needed. Perhaps you will find other family members that need their temple ordinances as well. Now you are able to complete all ordinances for that person and perhaps join an entire family together.

Refer back to the first window that has the “Ordinances Ready” list and follow the same process for the other individuals.

It is such a blessing to be able complete all ordinances for an individual that you have come to know and create a record that is accurate. Family history is truly a good work and the crowning moment is being able to go to the temple. May you be blessed in your temple and family history journey.
