Did you know at the Granite FamilySearch Center there are consultants who have experience in specific areas of family history research? What an incredible family history resource! Besides the consultants who have been trained in FamilySearch Family Tree, many are also knowledgeable in DNA, very familiar with Ancestry and other genealogy sites, personal history writing, as well as a host of country languages and research. This is one of the great reasons to actually visit the Granite FamilySearch Center.
I have done a lot of research on my husband’s family and have become familiar with the research tools needed. Sadly, I have neglected my own lines, thinking that most of the work had been done. My ancestors are mainly from England and Denmark and are pilgrims and pioneers from the early history of the United States. But from time to time, I receive a message from FamilySearch about an English or Danish ancestor. In the past week, I received a message that a Danish ancestor needed some research. Knowing the resources available at the Granite FamilySearch Center, I immediately called the consultant I knew who had extensive experience in Danish research. We scheduled a time to meet at the Center. The time spent with her learning was incredibly worthwhile, gleaning from her years of experience and learning from her “course knowledge.”
I am so inspired from the time I spend with these incredible consultants. If you are stuck or just need some inspiration from experience, I highly recommend calling or carving out some time to go to the Granite FamilySearch Center. Consultants there can direct you to the people who can further your family history journey. You will find it to be very valuable time spent and it is a joy as well!
