Family History and Temple Work

Making and Keeping Appointments

A few years ago, when chatting with my cousin about fitting things into my life that I felt were important to me, she gave me some advice that has stuck with me ever since. She observed that when we have an appointment with the dentist or work or the doctor, etc. we consider those appointments as important and keep them. She counseled me to do the same when fitting other important things into my life. Our leaders continue to encourage us to be involved with family history. It has become one of those important things in my life that I have made an appointment to do . Whether it is 20 minutes a week or two hours a week I recommend taking the advice of my cousin and “ make an appointment ” to fit it into your week .

There are so many blessings that await you and your family. In April 2018 Elder Renlund quoted President Russell M. Nelson ,“ ‘We can be inspired all day long about temple and family history experiences others have had. But we must do something to actually experience the joy ourselves. He continued, I invite you to prayerfully consider what kind of sacrifice — preferably a sacrifice of time — you can make [to] do more temple and family history work.’ As you accept President Nelson’s invitation, you will discover, gather, and connect your family. Additionally, blessings will flow to you and your family.”

To receive these promised blessings, I encourage you to “ make an appointment” with yourself . It will be an appointment well worth keeping! If you need help getting started, your ward or stake Temple and Family History Consultants are ready and willing to help!
