Names for the Temple Are Just a Click Away

If you have used Ordinances Ready on your mobile device, you already know what a fabulous tool this is. Finding names to take to the temple couldn’t be easier. Our Ordinances Ready blog last November discussed using this app on our smartphones. However, have you tried it from your computer?

To access Ordinances Ready on your computer is simple. Log in to your FamilySearch account. At the top of the page, you will see the word Temple. Place your cursor over the word (don’t click yet) and in the dropdown box you will see Ordinances Ready. Click on Ordinances Ready and a page listing the various ordinance types will appear.  Click on whichever ordinance you would like to do, and the system will search for ordinances that need to be done for your relatives. The number of ordinances is limited to the number that an individual could possibly do in one session:  Baptisms will typically pull up 5; Initiatories 5; one Endowment and Sealings will usually be 10. Click View People, the names will appear, and you can click print for cards to take to the temple. How easy is that?

At RootsTech 2019 this past week, Ron Tanner from FamilySearch indicated that currently Ordinances Ready looks for ordinances in: 1) your reservation list; 2) ordinances you have shared with the temple; 3) related ancestors in the temple file; and then 4) a deceased person in the temple file. He also stated that a planned future feature is that Ordinances Ready will be expanded to include the following areas to look for related family names that need ordinances: family reservation list, ward shared temple list, and stake shared temple list. Ordinances Ready is so easy and quick to use. Next time you are going to the temple and don’t have a family name, give it a try. You and your ancestors will be glad you did. –Debbie Brady
