Gathering Israel

SPIRITUAL MOMENTUM

In the April 2022 General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson introduced the concept of positive spiritual momentum in our lives. Just like a game in sports, momentum can carry us through difficult circumstances and provide that additional energy to perform at a high level.

Many of the conference talks in the most recent conference referenced the state of the world today. Fear is in the hearts of many as they contemplate the economy, wars, iniquity, pandemics, drought, vitriolic social media posts, and disregard of God’s commandments. However, the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ is one of hope, excitement and joy. We already know the outcome of this main event and we can be on the team that is successful in the end!

In Worldwide Youth Devotional on June 3, 2018, President Nelson helped us understand the significance of our time and the opportunity we have to be a part: “The gathering is the most important thing taking place on earth today. Nothing else compares in magnitude, nothing else compares in importance, nothing else compares in majesty. And if you choose to, if you want to, you can be a big part of it. You can be a big part of something big. Something grand, something majestic! . . . Just think of the excitement and urgency of it all: every prophet commencing with Adam has seen our day. And every prophet has talked about our day, when Israel would be fathered and the world would be prepared for the Second Coming of the Savior. Think of it! Of all the people who have ever lived on the planet earth, we are the ones who get to participate in this final, great gathering event. How exciting is that!”

Since President Nelson was sustained as President of the Church in 2018 he has announced 100 new temples. With each temple there are opportunities for more individuals to complete proxy ordinances for ancestors. The advances in technology have also made researching and finding our ancestors easier than ever before with more and more resources coming online every day. Even ten years ago I never dreamed that temple and family history work would be where it is today. It is also clearer than ever before that our temple and family history work is not just for those on the other side of the veil. It protects, lifts, guides and strengthens the living. President Nelson emphasized this in his closing remarks to the April 2022 General Conference:

Positive spiritual momentum increases as we worship in the temple and grow in our understanding of the magnificent breadth and depth of the blessings we receive there. I plead with you to counter worldly ways by focusing on the eternal blessings of the temple. Your time there brings blessings for eternity.”

At the Granite Family History Center we are ready and excited to help all who want to participate in this amazing gathering event. We hope to see you there soon as we work together in this great cause.
