Millions of Newly Indexed Records Available

In a July 1, 2020, blog post, Monthly Record Update for May 2020, found at Family Search, it was announced that 24 million new indexed records were made available in May 2020. It was exciting to me to see these newly available records and think about the impact they will have on those doing family research.

Each month, newly available records are announced on the Family Search blog. The records listed in the blog, contain links to the new records. Details from the indexed records are added to a searchable database at FamilySearch.org. The database helps people quickly and easily locate records with important information about their ancestors.

We can use the database to find the names of and information about our ancestors. We can then add this data to our FamilySearch Family Tree and make sure our ancestor’s temple ordinances are completed.

As I have thought of the countless hours of indexing, and review that were required to make these records available to us, and the dedication of those indexing these records, I have been truly amazed and grateful. What a wonderful way to serve one another as we are involved in this great work.

While temple service opportunities are limited at the present time, why not spend the time you would ordinarily spend in the temple, indexing and/or reviewing records? This work will bless you, bless others and help in the gathering of Israel in preparation for the Second Coming of our Savior.–Elaine Hardman
